Carry Me Bikes is a social enterprise operating in Hackney, East London. Their aim is to enable families and businesses to switch to cycling for their transporting needs. They sell and hire out cargo bikes as well as accessories. Their range include two and three-wheeler Bakfiets with and without electric assistance. Some of the funds made through hires and sales are reinvested into social projects they work on.
Building better communities where people can live and work in a nice environment is at the heart of what Alix Stredwick do. Founded in 2011, Carry Me Bikes have worked and ran many projects in East London as well as offering advice to local authorities on how to incorporate the use of cargo bikes in their efforts to improve sustainability.
One of the latest project, is a Family Bike Library run with Family Cycling Hackney. Carry Me Bikes and family cycling campaigner Ruth-Anna Macqueen have joined force to offer a unique opportunity for families to try out and borrow various cycling equipment, helping them to choose what is right for them. This service is combined with regular family bike rides organised in London. The official launch will be on Sunday 5th March.
Coming up from March 2017, are free Tots & Parents cargo bike monthly sessions to be held on Wednesday mornings in parks around East London. Parents will be offered some practical advice from cycling instructors as well as a fun time with their children outdoors. This initiative is in conjunction with the charity Wheely Tots. Cargo bikes used for these sessions will be trikes.
